skullcandy

Skullcandy roared into life as the brainchild of Rick Alden, a nonconformist and action sports innovator. The idea struck him on a chairlift in Park City—earbuds out, fumbling between his music player and a phone call. What if headphones could seamlessly switch between music and calls? And what if they looked as bold as they performed?

That simple thought became the foundation of Skullcandy’s rebel spirit. Tasked with bringing this ethos to life, we curated branded moments throughout Skullcandy’s new headquarters. Working closely with their creative team, we designed, fabricated, and installed a series of installations, each space carrying its own unique energy while honoring the core of music and action sports. From gritty details to dynamic layouts, every corner reflected Skullcandy’s unapologetic commitment to performance and style—just like that spark on a snowy Park City lift all those years ago.

planning approach

insane level of detail

Skullcandy’s headquarters isn’t just an office—it’s a playground for the untamed. Each conference room is styled like a gritty, neon-lit venue, with marquee signage marking off each space as if every meeting’s a gig worth the ticket. A magnetic Family Portrait wall? That’s where you see the faces that keep the whole machine rumbling along. Then there’s the jaw-dropping 64,000 ear-gel mural of Coco Ho riding a wave and a headphone cable rendering of Eric Koston catching air, tributes to the fearless spirit that Skullcandy’s all about. Right in the lobby, a swinging chairlift nods to the brand’s birthplace on a snowy mountain—an open invite for anyone to step up and feel a bit of that powder-day rush. Every inch of this place is built to capture the pulse of Skullcandy’s world, a world where music, motion, and guts blend into something raw and electric.

music venues

Each of these legendary music venues—Red Rocks, CBGB, Kilby Court, Whisky a Go Go, The Apollo, The Stone Pony, The Gorge, The Crystal Ballroom, Showbox, and The Fillmore—served as inspiration for the conference rooms at Skullcandy HQ. Each space is a tribute, capturing the grit, energy, and soul of these iconic backdrops where music history was made.

64,000 earbuds

From the start, we knew we had to use Skullcandy’s iconic earbuds creatively. After months of brainstorming, we landed on a pixelated mural made entirely from grayscale earbuds. It took 64,000 earbuds to create the image of Coco Ho riding a wave, with two people working full-time for 12 weeks. The result? Absolutely worth it—a stunning tribute to Skullcandy’s spirit and the artistry behind the brand.

A whole lot of cable!

Cables might be old school, but they’re the roots of the game. So we paid homage the best way we knew how—a bold, twisted rendering of Eric Koston catching air, crafted entirely from headphone cables, right in the main entry hallway. It’s Skullcandy’s past in a gritty, eccentric, fun, and creative nod to the past.
