jaw-dropping views

Nestled in one of Promontory’s picturesque courts in Utah, this home enjoys 270-degree, jaw-dropping views of Park City. WOW Atelier took full advantage of the setting, working closely with Shawn and Sandy to create a family home that harmonized with the surrounding landscape. From the beginning, this collaboration was as smooth as it gets—everyone pulling in the same direction, driven by a shared vision to craft a space that met the family’s unique needs while maximizing the panoramic views of Park City Mountain Resort, Canyon’s Resort, and the vast natural beauty beyond.

The design focused on placing the home perfectly within the landscape, so every room felt like a front-row seat to nature’s show. With the homeowners’ input, the result was a house that celebrates both function and beauty, perfectly sited to capture the majesty of the mountains. This was more than just a house—it was a sanctuary tailored to the spirit of the place and the family that calls it home.

architecture

maximizing views through geometry

Working with the challenging topography of the site, WOW Atelier teamed up with the owner and contractor to design a three-story home that blended seamlessly into the hillside. From most angles, only a story and a half of the home is visible, ensuring it doesn’t overpower the natural surroundings but rather becomes a part of them. The design approach was all about harmony with the landscape.

The rooflines of the house were carefully crafted to enhance both aesthetics and functionality. By strategically vaulting certain areas toward the breathtaking views, the design captures the beauty of the environment while maintaining a sleek, understated profile. This combination of beauty, practicality, and sensitivity to the site’s natural features resulted in a home that feels both innovative and timeless, built with a deep respect for the land it rests on.

materials bringing the outside in

The design of this project focused on seamlessly integrating the natural beauty of the surroundings with the home’s interiors. A glass-walled office allows work to be done without obstructing the stunning views, ensuring that the natural landscape is always a part of the daily routine. The office was designed to provide a sense of openness and connection to the environment, allowing productivity without the confinement of traditional office walls.

The dining experience was elevated by creating a space with 270-degree views, making every meal an immersion into the surrounding landscape. This space blurs the lines between inside and outside, allowing nature to play a central role in the dining experience.

To further enhance the feeling of connection with the outdoors, materials like raw wood ceilings were used, bringing the textures and tones of the exterior into the home. This choice creates a continuous, harmonious flow from the outside in, making the natural world feel like an integral part of the living space.
