Designing a gym based on co-workers working out together was a very different task. There was sensitivity and focus on the space that allowed people to feel comfortable exercising together and then returning to their work environment. The most challenging and exciting spaces to design were the locker rooms. We created “fast-changing” locker rooms that allowed everyone to change in a private space and lock their belongings up. We needed everyone to feel comfortable with no insecurities while changing. This core design narrative drove all the decisions in the gym and the clinic; the space had to function in a way that allowed its people to feel safe around each other; if we failed at this primary task, the 3fit goals would not be able to succeed.
