Ballet West Fluid Adagio { Sway’d }

Module Builder

This was the first major project that a group of us at the AIA Utah Young Architects Forum created. Chair Greg Walker along with co-chair Jacob Gines and Benjamin Wiemeyer worked hand in hand with Phil Jordan and Valerie Price from the Salt County Arts to create a competition aimed at transforming a vacant lot in the center of the city into something, well, more than a dirt lot! So with 46,000 and the promise that we could find amazing talented people willing to flex their design muscle in the name of something good, we went to work.

The goal of this temporary installation was to create a unique spatial experience within the urban context of Salt Lake City, and to provide visitors with an outdoor recreational/leisure area, and a much-needed refuge in an urban environment, while making the best use of the pre-existing space and available materials.
